Commentary: Baseball is a Metaphor for Life
How often have you been at work and thought as you were sweating through the day you weren’t getting any traction? You know you’re making the effort but there isn’t any progress. There were blowouts in Major League Baseball yesterday. Far more than usual. In Tampa Bay the Rays brought in two position players for relief after the starter tossed roughly 50 pitches in the top of the second inning. It was even worse for the Philadelphia Phillies visiting Baltimore. The Orioles had a single game record 8 home runs. Why such a bad night for Philadelphia? Nobody was answering the telephone in the bullpen. Oops! This video shows the Phillies nearly turned to smoke signals to send a message from the dugout. Yes, we’ve all had days like this. I know a guy who drove through several states with his gas cap off and thought there were performance issues with his Jeep. I guess it explains all the arm waving while people were passing me. I got it figured out somewhere in Nebraska.
