BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Open enrollment has kicked off for Idahoans who want to sign up for health insurance through the state's online exchange. The annual enrollment period runs from Wednesday to Dec. 15. President Donald Trump's administration has halved this year's open enrollment period and slashed advertising and outreach budgets for HealthCare.gov. Idaho is one of just 12 states with its own health insurance exchange and has autonomy, but the state will follow the federal government's shorter deadline unlike other state-based exchanges. Your Health Idaho Executive Director Pat Kelly says there are 299 plans being offered on Idaho's exchange from four medical insurance providers and three dental providers. New and current customers are encouraged to shop and compare 2018 coverage options. Nearly 106,000 Idahoans purchased plans on the exchange during last year's open enrollment period.
