Unrest and uncertainty in the global petroleum is continuing to cause gas prices in Idaho to rise. AAA Idaho says pump prices statewide spiked by 9 cents last week to $3.37. Still, Idaho's statewide average remains 17 cents below the national average.  Prices ranged from $3. 25 in Coeur d'Alene on Friday to $3.34 in Idaho Falls to a high of $3.43 in Twin Falls. AAA Idaho Spokesman Dave Carlson says turmoil in the Middle East was blamed for the initial surge in oil and gas prices. Now he says the focus is on the role of speculators in the petroleum market, especially since domestic oil and gas inventories remain high. Carlson predicts the surge in the national gas price will continue, but level off somewhere below $4 per gallon.
