I Think I Was Idaho’s Governor Yesterday
Maybe they can dig up Alexander Haig.
He was notified he might be in charge while he was picking up farm supplies.
There seemed to be some confusion about who was Idaho’s Chief Executive as the week started. The Governor and Lt. Governor were both out of state and one potential acting Head-of-State was caught by surprise. He was notified he might be in charge while he was picking up farm supplies.
Betsy Russell, one of the finest government reporters anywhere, wrote a tongue-in-cheek column for the Spokesman Review about the confusion.
Seriously, though. During a time of instant electronic communication is anyone ever out of touch? At my last radio station, I was constantly being emailed, texted and telephoned by the company president. While we can’t beam the Governor back from Paris quite yet, it’s not like he’s traveling by tramp steamer and he does have his share of electronic devices.
