Idaho, Land Of The Amazing Parachuting Beavers
Here's something you don't see everyday. Parachuting beavers. Back in the 1950's, Idaho Fish and Game had a unique way of moving beavers to areas where they were needed for conservation purposes. They dropped them from planes with little parachutes. You can't make this stuff up.
Here's their description of why they decided to - literally - make the fur fly.
Parachuting beavers! A 14-minute “color film” (circa 1950 and complete with audio) produced by the Idaho Fish and Game Commission to show live trapping and transplanting of muskrat, beaver and marten.
If you've ever wondered why beavers don't seem to like to hang around with us humans much, perhaps they remember how their ancestors were fitted for parachutes.
