CALDWELL, Idaho (AP) — Law enforcement officers in southwestern Idaho say an 18-month-old boy has died after he was accidentally hit by a vehicle driven by his dad.

The Canyon County Sheriff's office says 29-year-old Todd Squires was pulling out of his driveway on Wednesday evening when his toddler Mick Squires ran behind the truck. The sheriff's office said the child's mother tried to alert the driver but he did not hear her yell. When emergency workers arrived, both parents were performing CPR.

The boy died of his injuries at a local hospital. The sheriff's office says there is no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved. The case has been forwarded to the Canyon County prosecutor for review, but no charges have been filed at this time.
