Boise Among Best in America for ‘Budget’ Summer Vacation
It's that time of year: school is out for the summer, there are concerts and live events going on from coast to coast, and many families are seeking ways to get out of town for a little break and some fun.
Vacation? In this economy?
A recent online 'data compilation' released by Hoppa, a travel planning website, put out some rankings that highlight the best 'budget' vacations and you may be shocked to learn the results.
Take a look at the rankings and tell us...do any of these destinations, including our own Boise, Idaho, surprise you?

Boise making the list with the likes of San Antonio, Texas or Orlando, Florida all came as quite the surprise.
Here are some of the numbers that put Boise up atop the rankings...allegedly:
- The average 3-star hotel costs $143 a night
- The average price of a domestic draft beer is $6.50
- The average price of a meal at an inexpensive restaurant is $20
- The average price of one-way public transit is $1.50 (but this is limited in Boise?)
It seems to us that the 'data' is a bit random and while Boise is certainly a great place to visit, we're no major city with large attractions or amusement parks. Perhaps most surprising? Boise was among the most expensive when it come to that 3-star hotel stay.
We should also note...air quality wasn't taken into account!
If you were to vacation in our own city of Boise for the summer, what activities would you do and could you do it all without breaking the bank?
