As of the writing of this article, if you'd like to toke up and enjoy some cannabis in 2025, you're not going to be doing it in Idaho.
Not legally, anyway.
Will that be changing when we flip the calendar to 2026?
Wait. Are people saying that marijuana is going to be legalized in Idaho in 2026?
No. But man oh man, are a lot of cannabis aficionados hoping for that to come to fruition.
To be clear, it is illegal to possess, use, or distribute marijuana in Idaho. Recreational, medical, doesn't matter. All illegal. All of the times.
However, that doesn't stop the age-old question popping up about once a year: Will Idaho legalize it? We're not futurists here, but there is no significant evidence that leads us to believe you'll be able to get high in Idaho legally anytime soon.
For those playing along at home, that leaves Idaho as one of only four states left that have laws in place to make marijuana completely illegal. Those states are:
