The holiday season is getting closer to the end, and throughout the time, there have been some tragedies. Fatal car crashes, pedestrians being hit, and likely many slips on the ice when it covered the sidewalks and streets earlier in the month. The traffic can be dangerous, the weather unpredictable, and the stores overcrowded. While the holiday season can be fun, it can also be a dangerous time as well. There is one particular place that is more dangerous than the rest during the holiday season in Idaho, and unfortunately, you can't avoid it, no matter how hard you try.

Danger in Parking Lots in Twin Falls

While the roads might seem dangerous this time of year, it is the parking lots that you should be more fearful of. When the winter conditions come in, it makes walking from your vehicle to the store dangerous, and slipping and falling are likely to occur for some. Outside of the weather though, many people are in a rush and are not paying attention or are impatient behind the wheel. This leads to pedestrians getting hit or nearly hit, it leads to fender benders, and the stress of the holiday can lead to some yelling matches and perhaps fights as well. Drivers are mean when it comes to getting the best parking spot, and it can get vicious in many parking lots across the Magic Valley in multiple ways.

Since it is highly unlikely you can avoid parking lots this holiday season, it is best to take every precaution you can to make sure you are not harmed. If you are backing out, make sure the aisle is entirely clear, as despite thinking a car will stop and let you out, it is no guarantee. When walking into the store, it may sound silly, but assume every car will hit you, and don't trust them unless they wave you on. Make sure the driver sees you, before going in front of them. If any unexpected snow or ice comes in the next few weeks, make sure to take your time and wear the proper footwear to not slip and slide, and potentially fall. Put carts back where they go, and if you are the aggressive, angry driver, take a breath and slow down, because you don't want to hurt someone and do something you will regret, to only save a few seconds, and you don't want to end up with a ticket or worse either.

The good news is that the holiday shopping and crowds are nearing an end, but the bad news is that some of the habits occur year-round. Fewer people out will help with the problem, but it doesn't mean that these issues will entirely disappear. Survive a little bit longer, and things will be ok, but make sure to take precautions. The safest place to be is at home, away from all the shoppers and chaos, but if you go out, be aware, you are entering the danger zone.
