Kids Being Loud in California Could Make Them Healthier
iPads, video games, television, and cell phones have killed the days of kids being outside, running, playing, and getting into mischief. While it isn't like the old days, occasionally kids will be spotted outside having fun, but neighbors will tell them to be quiet and go home, or parents will tell them to get into the house and go to their rooms. The older generation is ruining kids these days by telling them to be quiet, and have forgotten what childhood was like. Instead of quieting kids, adults should encourage them to be loud, not just to hear the laughs and yells of kids outside once again, but also to benefit their health.
Being Loud in California is Healthy for Kids
Parents nowadays choose to put electronics in their kid's faces to get them to quiet down. This way they can have time to relax, watch their shows, work, or not have to parent. The problem with this is that it is doing more harm than good. Yes, after a long day of work, a loud household can be tough to manage, but kids need to be kids, and it benefits their health to be loud. While there are scary people in California and you can't trust anyone, with the weather nice so much of the year, kids need to be outside having fun and being loud. According to the American Academy of Pediatrics, undirected play is a key to children growing up and their development. Instead of quieting them down for our benefit, perhaps we should consider the child and their well-being.
Loud Kids in California Are Healthier Than Quiet Ones
It may sound silly but kids that get outside and run around while being loud benefit from it, not only for their health, but developing their character as well. Undirected play helps kids develop skills they need in life, such as conflict resolution, negotiation, and self-advocacy. It is best at times to let kids be kids and play free, instead of being instructed how to think and act. Kids who are being forced to stay inside and read, do schoolwork, or watch shows are more likely to suffer from anxiety, depression, and develop future social problems. They might benefit in the classroom, but there is more to life than only school.
Instead of thinking about your well-being, let your children be free. Take them to the beach to run and splash, or to a park to run and scream. Kids need to be kids, and preventing them from doing so, only benefits the parents, at the cost of the children. Look inside and find your inner child and have some fun being loud with your kids instead of quieting them.
