Popular Twin Falls Park Needs a Makeover as Soon as Possible
Most children living in or visiting Twin Falls call it ‘The Red Park’. Built as a gift from First Federal Bank, the First Federal Bank Park has been well-used since it was completed in late April 2015. It is adjoined to the Sunway Soccer Complex.
The park has had innumerable parties, play dates, picnics, and parent exchanges since it opened. The splash pad addition was a welcome cooling addition enabling park enthusiasts to enjoy. Both parks have been quite popular.
Is There More Trouble Ahead for First Federal Bank Park?
There is a small but foreseeable hiccup at the well-attended park, use. Its attendees have enjoyed the park with such enthusiasm, that it is now getting a bit over-loved.
It is expected for a park to undergo wear and tear, but at what point does it go beyond? The large swing has had to be replaced at least once. Other pieces have been removed and (hopefully) soon replaced.
Under the swings in any playground is an area that gets worn into grooves. But huge swaths of the turf are pulled up and large holes are apparent. Is this merely a result of typical activity, or do some persons enjoy exasperating the problem by intentionally making it worse?
There are places where an attempt to repair is noticeable. Even those spots are not setting well. Does the whole park need more attention than patches? Will First Federal Bank foot the bill for repairs after being so kind as to start the park? Can the city keep up the upkeep if it is their responsibility?
The splash pad has already been closed for a whole summer season. The playground may fall victim to its own needed repairs.
