We all have fears, and while most of us are afraid of things like clowns, the dark, aliens, or other things, sometimes our biggest fears can be not having control. When you go to sleep, you expect to get rest and not have a worry in the world, but for some, the thought of going to sleep raises their biggest fear and that is not knowing what is happening. What are they too afraid of when sleeping? Sleepwalking is a fear of many, and in Idaho, it appears to be something many are concerned about more than other states.

Are you someone who has ever slept walked or know someone who has? To be up and moving and doing things without being aware has to be scary. A recent study by mattressnextday.com revealed the states that most search for information about sleepwalking, and the state that searched the most was Wyoming, with Vermont being second, and North Dakota being third. Idaho fell on the list at 16, meaning it is more of a concern here than more than half the states in the country. The state with the least searches is California, with Ohio being the second least, and Georgia rounding out the bottom three.

Multiple things can lead to sleepwalking, and avoiding them could help prevent it. Things like reducing your computer or TV time would help, or establishing a calmer atmosphere in your bedroom, such as adding white noise, drinking less caffeine, or having a steady nightly routine. All of these would help lessen your chances of sleepwalking. If you are someone that sleepwalks though, and you have hurt yourself in the past, or are worried about what could happen, there are a few things you might want to do. To avoid harm to yourself, make sure there are clear walking paths around your home or lock the door to your bedroom to perhaps keep you in the room. If you are afraid of breaking anything valuable, make sure they are in a good spot. Inform those that you live with or stay with that you are a sleepwalker so they are alert, and of course, wear something to bed so you don't end up embarrassed when you wake up.
