Many in the Magic Valley enjoy complaining about the mail service, but these men and women are out there doing their best and a service that we all take for granted every day. Yes, there are times that our mail is late or packages get delayed or lost, but without mail, it would be tough to send things to family members and friends in other places. The mail service is used every day and is a luxury that isn't appreciated enough. All of us send things in the mail and receive things in the mail, but did you know that there are certain things that you are banned from mailing in the state of Idaho? Here are some of the things to not put in the mail, or you could find yourself in trouble.

Did you know it is against the United States Postal Service's policy to ship alcohol? There are ways to send your favorite alcoholic beverage to family members, but the postal service isn't one of them. Find a different way, or jump on a plane and deliver it yourself.

This one is pretty obvious. Without being a manufacturer or a licensed dealer, you can't get a handgun through the mail. There are rare exceptions but you are better off not attempting it. This one might be a blow for those looking to sell and ship some of their guns or buy one.

Attempting to send an unloaded handgun is one thing, but sending ammo is another. There are far too many chemicals and things that can go wrong with sending ammo through the mail. It is essentially a little explosive, which is frowned upon by the mailing service.

Matches are not toys. We are taught that at a young age, and they also aren't meant to be sent through the mail. One wrong strike while being delivered, and things could go up in flames. Why anyone would need to send or order matches through the mail is a mystery as well.

This one might be a little more off the radar and odd, but you can't mail airbags in Idaho. There are chemicals inside explosive airbags, which is how the bag expands during a crash. Sending any kind of explosive through the mail is banned. Sorry to burst your bubble, but you can't send your friend an airbag for their birthday.

Mailing an animal or pet is a bad idea. There are many animals on the list that you can't mail, such as dogs, cats, turtles, snakes, rabbits, guinea pigs, and even squirrels. While getting an adorable pet through the mail would be fantastic, it isn't going to happen.

If you can't mail ammo or airbags, there is no way you can send a firework. There are chemicals, explosives, and far too much that could go wrong.

To round out some of the ones above, you can't send explosives of any kind. Sorry, no grenades or anything that can go boom in the mail. This should be common sense, but they made the list for a reason, meaning people have tried.

Sending gasoline through the mail seems odd, but makes sense. It is highly flammable and why take a chance of something going wrong if you don't have to? I don't see a situation where gasoline would need to be mailed either.

Marijuana is still illegal in Idaho, making it going through mail still illegal. You can drive to some nearby states and purchase some at your own risk, but you can't order it through the mail in the Gem State.

It might be a bummer to find out there are certain things you can't mail or receive in the mail, but many of these are for obvious reasons. Some of them you can get through delivery services, but in terms of going through the USPS, you are out of luck.

Things We Do In Idaho That Feel Illegal But Aren't

We all know that feeling of driving down the street innocently obeying all the laws and a cop car pulls up behind you and you immediately feel like a felon on the run.
