Hard as it is to believe, the year is coming to an end fast, and soon it will be 2023. As many of us reflect on this past year, it is fair to say that Twin Falls is not the kindest to many businesses, as stores came and went within a few months, and some that had been open for years and decades closed their doors. As the year begins to wind down, let's look back on the businesses that won't make it to 2023 with us. Here are some of the many stores that closed in Twin Falls this year.

Luz Divina Variedades is one of a few stores on this list that both opened and closed in the year 2022. The store was a multicultural boutique located on Blue Lakes but sadly saw its doors close a few months after opening. The business continued to stay open online but will be closing the online store at the end of the month. They hope to reopen again sometime next year at a new location, and if they do, we will be sure to let you know. You can still shop online, while products are still in supply.

Sweet T's

If you enjoy a good cupcake then Sweet T's was the place to go. They had a wide variety, they were delicious and they were located on both ends of town. Unfortunately, 2022 is ending on a sour note, as they have decided to sell their equipment and store on Main Street. Hopes are high from customers that they will return in the future, but as of now, the family needed a break and has decided to close their doors. While we much rather have Sweet T's in town, this will make New Years' Resolutions a tad easier for 2023.

Disc Golf Distribution Center (DGDC)

Disc Golf Distribution Center or commonly referred to as DGDC, saw its doors close at the end of October, after a ten-year run in Twin Falls. This was the place to go for anything you needed in terms of disc golf or darts, and many were sad to see them close, especially being so conveniently located across from the CSI course. The good news is, that while DGDC does not technically exist anymore, all of their product and their fabulous owner Mike, are over at Toy Town supplying Twin Falls residents with disc golf and dart knowledge and products. Toy Town may be the store to go to now, but everything customers loved about DGDC is still in town.

Most of us classify as nerds these days, as box office numbers have proven time and time again that many of us enjoy superheroes and comic book movies. Unfortunately, for those that enjoy reading the actual comic books, Scramble City Comics closed earlier this year. The physical store may have closed, but the business does still function online. Scramble City Comics was located on Blue Lakes Boulevard and closed on May 7.

Tomato's

While technically Tomato's did close back in 2021, it has been over a year since they shut their doors, and this seemed like a good time to remember one of the best, if not the best, Italian restaurants that was in Twin Falls. They officially shut their doors on November 27 of last year, but let's all take a moment of silence to reflect on their delicious food and shed a tear for what once was. If you do still crave Tomato's, you can make a short drive over to Jerome and pick some up at their takeout location.

Maxie's

It may not seem like it, but Maxie's has been closed since April 30 of this year. The restaurant was for sale for a long time, and the family that owned and operated it decided to retire, and close the place for good. They had delicious pizza, lasagna, and breadsticks. The restaurant has since been purchased and changed to Antojos, which opened last month. Many of us still crave Maxie's and will be sad to see them not make it into next year.

The Dugout

Add The Dugout to the list of stores that opened in 2022 and closed in 2022. The adult arcade and bar opened in March of this year, but unfortunately didn't make it past a few months and is now permanently closed. The Dugout was a bar that had shuffleboard, darts, foosball, and other games. It was a great place for adults to hang out, have a drink and enjoy some fun. The store has since been filled by Stewart Nutrition and no news of opening up at a new location has been released at this time.

Asia Magic

Asia Magic was a place that many may not have visited but most knew and drove by frequently. It was a massage parlor, but the reason it was unique, isn't because of what may or may not have happened inside, but because not many massage places are in an old greenhouse on the busiest street in town. The parlor closed and within days, the house was knocked down. Nothing has filled the vacant lot as of yet, but being in such a prime location, odds are some new business will fill the lot by the end of 2023.

Retro Games and Entertainment

Retro Games and Entertainment, like Asia Magic, is recognizable and known more for the building than what was inside. This place can not be missed, as the building is painted with iconic video game characters, and the artwork is fantastic. The store closed quietly back in February but did not go out of business. They moved the store up to Nampa, and continue to be running to this day. If you are ever in the area, you can stop by and see what games they have for sale. The store remains empty as of today, and it'll be interesting to see what becomes of it next year.

Ever since the pandemic a few years ago, far too many stores have seen their doors close. Stores have come and gone this year, and some have closed after years of hard work in the Magic Valley. These are just a few of the too many stores that have closed this year. You may have missed some of these that have closed as well. Make sure to click the link to make sure you are aware of more stores that have closed in Twin Falls. The only way to help these stores thrive is to get out and support them, so make sure to shop and eat local when you can, and next year, hopefully, this list will be much shorter. We remember the stores that were this last year. Rest in peace.
