Taking a vacation during the summer is one of the best parts of the season. The weather is warmer, kids are out of school, and it is time to get away from work for a few days or weeks. When it comes to taking a road trip there are a few states that many enjoy driving through and then there are states that others want to avoid. WalletHub recently released a list of the best and worst states to road trip through and ranked the states using a few categories such as cost, safety, and activities. Using these criteria it was determined that Minnesota is the best state to road trip through, with New York being second, and Ohio rounding out the top three. Using the same criteria, it was determined that Delaware is the worst state to road trip through, with Connecticut being the second worst, and Rhode Island rounding out the bottom three.

When it comes to taking a road trip through Idaho, you are in luck as it is one of the top ten states according to the list. Seeing how you will have to travel through part of the Gem State to take a road trip, it is a nice start to your adventure. Idaho ranks eighth on the list and is 29 in cost, number one in safety, and 21 in activities. If you are headed south through Utah, you will also go through a top ten state as they rank fourth on the list. Utah is 30 in cost and 10 in both safety and activities.

Instead of spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on flying, take a family road trip instead.
