Saturday’s Wendell ID Fireworks Show A Great July 4th Warmup
If you happened to have attended the Saturday (June 27) evening fireworks show at Wendell High School, I think you'll agree that it was the perfect kickoff to the approaching Fourth of July holiday weekend.
Despite the periods of rain and wind on Saturday, numerous southern Idaho events packed audiences in and pushed on despite weather obstacles. One gathering I had the opportunity to attend turned out to be one of the better fireworks shows I've ever attended.
The Boise Music Festival and the 51st Annual Idaho Regatta both took place this past Saturday. I got feedback from people I know who attended both events, that despite a few periods of heavy rainfall, good crowds still packed into both events. We bailed on a planned road trip at the last minute heading into the weekend due to the forecast.

The celebration began at 6:30 P.M. with music and food vendors. A large number of families gathered in the bleachers and on the high school's football field. Footballs were getting tossed around, kids were running the track, and people bundled up in the hours leading up to 10 P.M., when the fireworks show was scheduled to begin.

I applaud the volunteers who oversaw and executed the fireworks show as part of Simerly's 4th of July Extravaganza at Wendell High School over the weekend. I was pleasantly surprised at how spectacular it was, and I will definitely be attending again next year. My only regret was not taking enough photographs; I was too enamored with the show.
Judging by the smiles and constant applause from those who watched the 30-minute skyward display, I think it's safe to say everyone had a great night.
