What Would You Do? Unsure of Car Pulling You Over in Idaho

What would you do? What would you do if you are driving down the road in Idaho and see lights behind you, that belong to a car that isn't marked as a police officer? It is known that there are unmarked cop cars in the area, but when the lights come on behind you and you aren't sure if it is an officer or not, doubts run through your head about what you should do. Hopefully, you aren't doing anything that would require an officer to pull you over, but the next time it happens, if it is an unmarked car what would you do?

They have been around for decades and are in most towns and cities in the country, but what makes them intimidating is when you aren't sure if the unmarked car behind you is a legitimate cop car or not. In today's world, there are people out there that will imitate cops, which is highly illegal by the way, and will try to get people to pull over. What follows differs by the person's intentions, but it likely won't end well for the person that pulled over for what they thought was an officer. It is tough to know the difference sometimes, especially if it is dark at the time. What should you do and what is the right call?

If the car following is a legitimate officer, they may grow impatient the more you draw it out, and the consequences could result in a chase that you didn't intend to be in. It is smart to always pull over in a lit area, as well as a more populated area, but that is not necessarily always an option. If you ever doubt that the car behind you is a legit police officer or not, you can always call 911 and ask them to verify that you are indeed being pulled over by an on-duty officer.
