WATCH: Video Inside Boise Capitol Shows the Arrest of Bathroom Protestors
When we first shared the news that more protestors had been arrested at the Boise Capitol Building in Idaho, there were questions. Mainly, what bathroom were they in, and was it the ‘correct’ bathroom? The protestors were in the Capitol to express their feelings about the recent passing of Idaho House Bill 752.
That law doesn’t go into effect until July, so if they were in the bathroom that doesn’t coincide with their biological gender, that could be one less charge they get.
Protestor Chants ‘Let Us Pee’ While Being Removed From Boise Capitol Bathroom
In the video, shared by Idaho News 6 and posted below, you can see a line of police maintaining a perimeter while other officers remove the protestors from the bathroom and take them to a holding room in handcuffs and zip-ties. It doesn’t look like you get to see all the protestors, I only counted 5, but you definitely hear them - especially the woman (?) shouting ‘Let us pee’ on repeat.
Six people were arrested at the protest, which included bullhorns, whistles, and barricading themselves in the Capitol bathroom.
The protest happened on April 3rd. The Idaho State Police report states that 12 people were involved in the protest, and 6 of them were arrested on misdemeanor trespass charges, with 2 also facing resisting arrest charges.
