
Convicted Child Abuser in Idaho Sentenced to More Than a Decade in Prison
The United States Department of Justice in Idaho has announced the service of justice to an Idaho man convicted of distributing child sexual abuse material.
The man was found with hundreds of images of child sexual abuse material. He will serve 12 years in federal prison, be required to register as a sex offender, and be placed on supervised release following his prison sentence.
Idaho Child Abuser Sentenced to 12 Years in Federal Prison
The US DOJ made the announcement on January 23rd that Chase Phillip Hornaday had been sentenced to 144 months (12 years) in federal prison for ‘distributing child sexual abuse material’ following an investigation that began in November of 2023.
Authorities had received reports that Hornaday had possessed and distributed illegal sexual materials involving children. A search warrant found more than 60 images on a file-sharing account and 300 additional photos on his cell phone.

Distribution of child sexual abuse material is a felony and is punishable by up to 30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
The sentence for Hornaday includes 12 years in federal prison, sex offender branding, and 5 years of supervised release. He will also be required to pay $27,000 in restitution.
Two other child abuse/exploitation/pornography cases have been reported in Southern Idaho recently. Shane Pruett of Twin Falls was sentenced to 78 months in federal prison, followed by 15 years of supervised release and Michael Montoya of Burley was arrested and charged with producing, possessing, and distributing ‘child sexual exploitation material’.
