Are Pilots From the Mountain Home and Hill Air Force Bases Already Deployed in Iran
Troops, airmen, soldiers, sailors, and members from a variety of branches of the United States armed forces have been called to assist with the conflict in Iran. The uncertainty of what will happen in the upcoming weeks has community members in Idaho and Utah nervous, knowing friends and family members from Hill Air Force Base in Utah and Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho could be called into active service any moment.
We care about all the service members defending our country and defending those around the world, but it feels more real when it’s our family, friends, and neighbors in the fight.
Here’s How You Can Know Hill Air Force Base is Involved in the Iranian Conflict
There is a very real chance that pilots and their crews from the bases in Utah and Idaho could be called to action, or already have been. In an article from KSL, the mayor of Clearfield, Mark Shepherd, commented on the fact that the skies over Hill Air Force Base and the surrounding area have been quiet recently and that means that instead of training in Utah they are active somewhere else.
Shepherd also said ‘When we see the F-35s on the news we know that they came from Hill.’ That’s because Hill Air Force Base is the premier active F-35 base. There has been talk in Utah that the conflict in Iran will affect the upcoming Warriors Over the Wasatch Air Show in June, but the base says those speculations aren’t true and the show is still on schedule to happen as planned.

Mountain Home Air force Base hasn’t released any updates on their activity in Iran, but the MHAFB F-15E Strike Eagles from the 366th Fighter Wing have previously been actively involved in operations in the Middle East. An article from Air and Space Forces magazine says one F-15E from Mountain Home that had been stationed in the UK as a stopover point, had flown out to join the activity in the Middle East on March 2nd.
A video from Military Aviation Channel on YouTube says there were 6 USAF F-15s from Mountain Home fully armed and loaded with extra fuel tanks that flew out from the UK base on Sunday morning, March 1st, for deployment.
MHAFB did post on Facebook in early February that they ‘stand ready’ accompanied by photos of a few fighter jets.
Wherever the service members originate from, we wish them all safety during their deployment.
