A fatal accident on a western Idaho highway has claimed the life of a young passenger and seriously injured three others.

The report was shared by the Idaho State Police as a news release.

Juvenile Passenger Dead Following Idaho Highway Head-on Crash

The deadly accident involved two vehicles and happened on August 5th at 5:34 PM. The vehicles were travelling on State Highway 55 near mile marker 135, north of Lake Cascade and the town of Donnelly, when the accident happened.

  • A 74-year-old male from McCall was driving a 2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC, travelling northbound on SH55.
  • Three juveniles in a 1999 Toyota Tacoma pickup were travelling southbound on SH55.

The ISP report states that the driver of the Mercedes crossed the center line of the highway and struck the Toyota head-on. One of the young passengers in the Tacoma passed away at the scene of the accident.

None of the juveniles in the Tacoma were wearing seatbelts, and the driver and the other passenger were taken to a local hospital by air ambulance with serious injuries.

The driver of the Mercedes was wearing a seatbelt and was also transported by air ambulance to the hospital.

The Idaho State Police are investigating the crash.
