Start Dates and 2025-2026 Event Calendars For Magic Valley Schools

Many schools around the Magic Valley try to match their district calendars with surrounding districts, but every once in a while, there’s a school that does its own thing the whole year.

Other times, the calendars are similar but still have variations in days off or partial days.

When Do Schools Start in the Magic Valley?

With the 2025-2026 school year, it’s really no different than previous years. The Twin Falls School District calendar is similar to most of the surrounding districts, but a few standalone schools and smaller districts have different start dates, time off for spring break, and even the length of Christmas and Thanksgiving break.

That’s not even including the schools that are doing 4-day weeks or shorter classes one day of the week. So, to help you know what to expect from your school and to plan your personal calendar, here are the academic year calendars for schools in the Magic Valley.

An interesting thing that happens in Southern Idaho schools is that many start the school year, get through about a week, and then take a week off for fair season. Some don’t care, and others think they should just wait and start after the fairs.

Another interesting difference in calendars each year is that Xavier Charter School always starts weeks after the rest of the Magic Valley. This year, there are districts starting on August 12, 13, 15, 18, 19, and 20, but Xavier doesn’t start classes until September 2nd.

At least all the districts have the same week off for Spring Break, March 23-27.
