
College of Southern Idaho Given Huge Donation From Metallica Scholarship Fund
Two colleges in Idaho have been given tens of thousands of dollars in scholarship money from a very unexpected source: one of the most famous rock bands in history.
The band has formed a scholarship fund that awards millions of dollars each year to help college students in career and technical training programs.
Which Famous Rock Band Just Awarded $75,000 to Idaho Colleges?
In 2019, Metallica started the Metallica Scholars Initiative and awarded $1 million to 10 community colleges across the United States. Since then, the program has grown, and more than $13 million has been given to 75 colleges across the US and Guam.
Two of those colleges are in Idaho, and for one of them, this is their first year receiving Metallica money.

The College of Western Idaho in Nampa was added to the list in 2024, and the College of Southern Idaho was just added to the list for 2025.

Despite coming from a band of musicians, the money isn’t intended to help college music programs.
Idaho News 6 reported that the money at CSI will be used to ‘support five programs at CSI: Agribusiness, Animal Science, Aquaculture, Ag Diesel, and Heavy-Duty Truck Diesel’.
