Hit-and-Run Accident With a Semi Truck Reported in Southern Idaho. Police Investigating and Asking for Information

Being in a highway accident sounds terrifying. Being in an accident with a semi-truck sounds even worse. So, maybe the second vehicle in this accident drove away out of fear. The Idaho State Police reported that the accident happened just a few minutes after 2 AM on Monday, October 19th.

Both vehicles were headed south on Interstate 15 near mile marker 95, at the Snake River Bridge, in Bingham County. According to the ISP news release:

A 28-year-old male from Rupert, Idaho, was driving a red 2002 semi-truck southbound on Interstate 15 when an unidentified vehicle drifted into his lane and struck the semi-truck.

Following the collision, the semi-truck traveled through the southbound guardrail, crossed the median, and struck the cement barrier and guardrail for the northbound lanes.

It is unknown what damage, if any, was sustained by the vehicle that hit the semi or the condition of the driver. Idaho State Police are investigating, and anyone with information should contact them.

The driver of the semi-truck was wearing a seatbelt and didn’t require medical transport for his minor injuries.
