Seven vehicles were involved in a pileup on an Idaho highway over the weekend. Authorities believe that dangerous road conditions and the excessive speed of one driver caused the chain reaction crash.

The accident happened on Saturday morning in Teton County, Idaho, on State Highway 31 near mile marker 15. The pileup began at 11:09 in the morning when one vehicle attempted to pass other vehicles on a wintry road.

7 Vehicles From ID, UT, WA, and WY Involved in Icy Idaho Accident

The ISP report states that a 31-year-old man from Peru was driving a Nissan Titan southbound on the highway and attempted to pass other vehicles. His speed was too fast for the winter road conditions. The report also shares the following regarding the other six vehicles involved:

  • A Ford Bronco, driven by a 25-year-old woman from Victor, ID
  • A GMC Acadia, driven by a 39-year-old man from Quincy, WA
  • A Chevrolet Silverado, driven by a 51-year-old man from Driggs, ID
  • A Dodge Ram, driven by a 50-year-old woman from Wilson, WY
  • A Ford F150, driven by a 28-year-old man from Idaho Falls, ID
  • A Toyota van, driven by a 34-year-old man from Syracuse, UT

Luckily, all occupants of the vehicles were wearing seatbelts, and no one required medical attention at a hospital.

State Highway 31 runs between Victor and Swan Valley in southeast Idaho. Mile marker 15 is near the small Pine Creek Campground area along the Little Pine Creek.
