This is the weekend the world has been waiting for in Southern Idaho. Tourists travel from all around the globe and some plan their visits around the Shoshone Falls.
Sometimes their trip is a disappointment because the waterfall is more of a water-trickle. That will not be the case this weekend.
Idaho Power Announces Increased Flow at Shoshone Falls Starting Saturday
The current waterflow at the Shoshone falls is about 300 cubic feet per second (CFS) and the plan is to increase that to nearly 3,000 CFS by Saturday afternoon. Flows will remain high for three to four weeks.
Timing is also perfect for the increase in water and visitors as the road repairs were finished just a few days ago to both the Shoshone Falls and Dierkes Lake.

Going from 300 CFS to 3,000 is huge. That’s ten times as much water and a 1,000 percent increase. This video shows what around 4,000 CFS looks like at the Shoshone Falls.
