CA Insurance Company Named ‘Best Employer’ for 2024

A recent survey of employers across the United States has found not only the best employer overall but the best in each state.

For California residents, it’s good to work in retail and insurance.

Best Employer in the US Has 140 California Locations

Overall, the ‘Best Employer’ in the United States is the retail giant Costco. Costco has 625 location in the US and nearly a quarter of them, 140 (or 22 percent), are in California. Costco has won the overall award in the yearly study done by Statista and Forbes for the last 6 years.

However, Costco isn’t the top employer in California. They aren’t even in the top 10 - and they barely make the top 50 best employers in the Golden State. Costco earned the 45th spot on the list.

According to the study, the top employer in California isn’t a California-based company. Their headquarters are in Mayfield Village, Ohio but that doesn’t keep them from being a great company to work for.

Progressive Insurance took the top spot in California.

Progressive was followed by In-N-Out Burger in 2nd place and 3 tech companies Google, NVIDIA, and Microsoft in 3rd, 4th, and 5th place. You can see the full list on the Statista website

Methodology

Statista and Forbes used info from more than 4.4 million employer recommendations in online questionnaires. Employers needed to have more than 500 employees to qualify for the study. Using that information and a scoring model the top employers were chosen.

There were 101 employers who made the California list on Statista.
