For those in Idaho who have a passion for space exploration and anything related to our infinite, incredible universe, a rare celestial event is happening in a couple of weeks that you'll want to prepare for.

A chance at seeing any planet in the sky with the naked eye is an exciting prospect for space junkies. Imagine getting the opportunity to see several planets in the sky at the same time. This will be a reality 37 days from now.

I grew up a big fan of astronomy. My favorite movies all have a space theme. Movies like Contact, Interstellar, The MartianGattaca, and the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise became instant film favorites of mine due to my fondness for the marvelous mystery that is outer space.

'Planetary parade' is the name given to the times when multiple planets are visible in the sky at the same moment. The cool thing about the upcoming February date is the fact that four of the six planets should be visible without the use of a telescope, unless of course clouds block our view.

According to information shared by NASA, on February 28, 'Mercury, Venus, Neptune, Saturn, Uranus, and Jupiter will appear shortly after sunset.' Uranus and Neptune will likely require visual aids to see, but the other four (weather permitting) will be identifiable with the naked eye.

When trying to spot events such as a planetary parade, heading to higher elevations and distancing yourself from light pollution (city, neighborhood lights) will greatly increase chances for a better outcome. Binoculars aren't a bad call either.
