A top Idaho Republican lawmaker was injured this weekend in a farming accident. Rep. Scott Bedke of Oakley is  recovering at the Cassia Regional Medical Center in Burley. Saturday morning the farmer was loading a truck with oat hay to feed cattle, when a bale weighing an estimated 1,500 pounds rolled onto him and the tractor he was driving. The bale hit him from top and behind and smashed his chest into the steering wheel. although Bedke has minor fractures to his sternum and spine, he had no serious injuries and was walking around Sunday. Two of the three education reform bills could be voted on in the house this week. If that happens and Bedke is absent, he could still cast a vote through documents called pair slips.
