TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) – A semi-truck hit a power pole in Twin Falls on Tuesday leaving about 2,000 Idaho Power customers without their services.

The incident happened just before 2 p.m. More than half of the customers had their power restored within the hour. However by 3 p.m. Idaho Power said 647 customers were still without services. At that time, Idaho Power did not have an estimated time of restoration, but crews were working on it.

The outage affected stop lights in the area and flagger crews were out helping direct traffic near Canyon Ridge High School, off North College Road.

Melissa Thorn with Idaho Power says vehicle versus power pole accidents are extremely costly. What's more, there are about 500 a year.

Idaho Power customers can check on the Outage Map on their website for updates on outages.
