A dry weekend was something most people in the Magic Valley welcomed (I hope).

Long time Idahoans tell me I’m looking at a lot of snow.

Overnight lows below freezing also slowed the runoff from the recent thaw.  Some of you may be reading about the troubles California is having.  The state has gone from severe drought to a need for an ark.  While we aren’t likely to see anything on the scale taking place in the Golden State a co-worker makes an interesting point.  We’ve only seen runoff from melting snow and ice in the river valley.

Over the weekend I looked out across the Snake River Canyon at the distant mountains.  Long time Idahoans tell me I’m looking at a lot of snow.  A rapid melt would spell disaster in a lot of places in the state’s valleys.
