St. Luke’s Magic Valley Investigating Child’s Death
Twin Falls, Idaho (KLIX) Officials with a St. Luke's Magic Valley announced Friday afternoon they are investigating the death of a patient. According to Dr. Brian Fortuin, Chairman of the St. Luke's Quality Committee, "a young child died after we gave him medication that the child should not have received." Officials did not take questions or specify when the event happened. Dr. Fortuin said it was a tragic event and said they were profoundly sorry for what happened. He also said the hospital has offered the family any assistance they may need.
"Events like this are rare, so we have immediately launched a thorough review of exactly what happened so that we can make sure this never happens again." said Dr. Fortuin. St. Luke's officials say they decided to release limited information out of respect for the family. No other details were provided.
