That’s because the city engineering department developed an innovative way to use wetlands to meet the new guidelines over the next few years instead of adding expensive filters at the Twin Falls treatment plant.  Last night the City Council congratulated the city engineering department, specifically staff engineer Mike Trabert, for “going above and beyond” in finding a cheaper solution to the problem.  To the knowledge of all involved, building the wetlands to filter agricultural sediment runoff out of the Snake River is the first of its kind in the nation.  One of the wetlands will be located near Auger Falls and the other near the police gun range on the northeast side of Twin Falls.  Also, at last night’s meeting, the City Council voted 5 to nothing to send a letter of support for the China Mountain Wind Farm project proposed for BLM land in southern Twin Falls County.
