A farmer from Weiser, ID is one of ten national sweepstakes winners, and he's using his winnings to give cancer patients gas cards and books.

Angel Wings Network was picked as a winner of the 2019 Bayer Grain for Good Sweepstakes after being nominated by a local farmer, Ernie Chandler of Weiser, Idaho.

Chandler said, “Being a farmer, it is great that agriculture can give something back to the local Angel Wings Network organization that has helped my family personally.”

Farmers could enter the sweepstakes if they planted at least 250 acres of cotton, peanuts, soybeans, corn and/or wheat, and ten winners were selected nationwide.  Each farmer picked a charity of choice that would benefit, and Angel Wings Network received $5,000 thanks to Weiser's win.  They're going to use the donation to provide gas cards and resource books for cancer patients.

Angel Wings Network helps cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and families in rural communities around Weiser, and sometimes patients use the gas cards to travel to treatment centers.  Angel Wings Network also provides monthly food boxes to patients struggling financially and gives them prayer blankets and resource books that they can keep.

This is the second year of the Grain for Good Sweepstakes and so far the Bayer Cereal
Experts have donated $100,000 to 20 cereal growers throughout the country.  Other winners this year were in North Dakota, Nebraska, Montana, Minnesota, South Dakota, and Colorado.

Congrats Ernie!  Farmers are always doing good work, and you one-upped everybody with this pay-it-forward story.
