Reports are surfacing regarding the closures of more than 30 popular merchandise stores across the United States. One of the locations set to close its doors is found in southeast Idaho.

Bed Bath & Beyond is closing 37 stores, according to details shared by CNN Business and other sources. The sites that made the list extend from coast to coast and include the Pocatello location at 1732 Hurley Drive. I reached out to the Twin Falls store Friday morning and was able to chat briefly with a sales associate.

"No, we are not closing," responded the representative I spoke to. The Twin Falls Bed Bath & Beyond is located at 1933 Filmore Street. Stores in California, Washington, and Arizona were also included on the list. New York was hit the hardest by the news, with seven stores in total set to close later in the year.

Bed Bath & Beyond began opening stores specializing in home goods 50 years ago, and operates locations primarily in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. The company posted a 26% drop in second-quarter revenue for 2021, according to data shared by retail-insight-network.com.

On a more positive note, many Twin Falls residents were excited to recently learn that a popular clothing chain the city lost a couple of years ago is returning in 2022. Old Navy will reopen a location on Fillmore Street, near Dick's Sporting Goods.

We will continue to monitor this developing story. We were pleased to learn that the closures are not affecting Twin Falls for the time being.
