Boy Remains Hospitalized after Boat Capsizes on Snake River
IDAHO FALLS, Idaho (AP) — Eastern Idaho authorities say a 4-year-old boy remains hospitalized after being trapped under a capsized boat in the Snake River for 15 to 20 minutes.
The Bonneville County Sheriff's Office in a news release Wednesday says two fathers who each had their 4-year-old sons along launched Tuesday and motored upstream.
Authorities say a problem with the anchor caused the boat to capsize, trapping one of the boys. Police say the other 4-year-old and his father floated downstream and were pulled from the water by emergency responders.
Authorities say the father of the trapped 4-year-old remained at the boat and with another boater who jumped in partially lifted the boat so rescue personnel could pull out the trapped 4-year-old. Authorities say the child remains in the intensive care unit at the Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.
