RUPERT, Idaho (AP) — A south-central Idaho jury has found a Burley man guilty of involuntary manslaughter for his involvement in the shooting death of a passenger in his pickup truck. The Times-News reports the jury deliberated about three hours Friday before finding 25-year-old Michael Jared Thompson guilty. He faces a potential 25 years in prison at his sentencing set for Jan. 28. Prosecutors say Thompson pointed a handgun at the back seat of his truck to end arguing between 21-year-old Michael Kenneth Blair and a woman in December 2011 as they drove home from drinking at a bar. Another woman testified Blair placed the gun's barrel in his mouth with his hands over Thompson's hand, when the gun discharged. Thompson's attorney argued Thompson wasn't responsible for the death because Blair committed suicide.
