The South Central District Health Department is advising restaurant owners that there may be someone out there claiming to be inspectors who are not.  The health district has had reports from several restaurant operators, mainly in the Wood River and Mini-Cassia areas, who claim a person will contact them to say there was a complaint about their food.  When the fake inspector shows up they ask to sample the food and in some cases ask for unrelated business information.  Health District officials say they first thought the fake inspectors were just looking to get a free meal but now they believe they may be going beyond that.  South Central Health District Director Rene LeBlanc is advising area restaurants that the legitimate inspectors won’t ask to sample the food and that they have photo-ID’s.  If they are not sure if the inspector is legitimate they can contact the health district office.
