Magic Mud Art Sale, the College of Southern Idaho Art Department’s annual fundraiser, is scheduled for Thursday through Saturday, Dec. 1 - 3 at the CSI Student Union Building’s Eagle’s Nest.

This event brings the works of student and professional potters together for a holiday show and sale. According to CSI Art instructor Bill West, approximately 20 pottery and photography students will be involved in this year’s show and sale. The event typically includes ceramics, photography, and other artworks.

Ceramic artists will be showing and selling lots of decorative and functional items including platters, bowls, vases, casserole dishes, cups, teapots, and unique objects.

The show will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Dec. 1 and 2 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3.  A portion of the proceeds from the sale, helps to fund CSI art Club events.

The annual Welding Auction will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Herrett Center’s Rick Allen Room. CSI Welding instructor Clay Wilkie says his welders will be joined by students from several Magic Valley high schools, including Twin Falls, Filer, and others. This is part of an ongoing effort to include the welding programs from all southern Idaho high schools.

Items for sale include free-standing and wall-mounted art, garden benches, fire pits, decorated saw blades and many other decorative and functional items. Wilkie expects between 40 and 50 items for sale. The doors of the Herrett Center will open at noon on Dec. 3 and the auction begins at 1 p.m.

And the CSI’s 27th annual Cabinetmaking and Woodworking Program Christmas Auction will feature the best work from CSI Woodworking students this semester. The auction is set for 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 in the Herrett Center’s Rick Allen Room.

Sale items this year include; a queen sized distressed bed, cherry and marbled maple credenza, spalted maple coffee table, geometric design table top, convertible chair/stools, mahogany and hickory hall benches, walnut patio table with ice chest inlay, holiday signage, bread box, Chinese checker game board, and bookshelves.

The public is welcome to view the auction items starting at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10 in the Rick Allen Room of the Herrett Center for Arts and Science. Coffee, soda, and cookies will be provided.
