Idaho Gas Prices Higher Than National Average
TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KLIX) – Idaho’s average gas price on Tuesday was about 20 cents higher than the national average, but those in the know say that prices at the pump, though they are at the highest level of the year, are fairly flat.
“Memorial Day is the traditional start to the summer driving season,” says AAA Oregon/Idaho Public Affairs Director Marie Dodds. “Last week, U.S. demand for gasoline jumped 252,000 b/d to 9.7 million b/d, the highest level this year, while gasoline inventories dropped by 800,000 barrels.
“If the trend continues, consumers can expect to see summer gasoline prices potentially return to the year-to-date high prices seen in April, when the national average for a gallon of gasoline was $2.42 and the Oregon average was $2.77.”
The national gas price on Tuesday was $2.37 a gallon; Idaho’s average was $2.59 per gallon.
Besides Idaho, states listed with the highest gas prices include California ($3.10), Hawaii ($3.07), Alaska ($2.90), Washington ($2.87), Nevada ($2.74), Oregon ($2.73), Pennsylvania ($2.58), and Connecticut ($2.51).
