BOISE, Idaho (AP) — New U.S. Census estimates show that Idaho's median household income fell for the third year in a row in 2011. The Idaho Department of Labor released a statement about the census data Thursday. The census estimates put Idaho's median household income at about $43,300. That's a nearly 9 percent drop from 2008. Only eight other states have had three straight years of declining median household income, and only Nevada and Georgia recorded larger three-year declines than Idaho. About 16.5 percent of Idaho residents were living in poverty last year, nearly one percent more than in 2010. There were about 78,000 Idaho households receiving food stamps in 2011.
