Idaho’s War Dead Remembered at Christmas
Idaho’s war dead are being remembered this Christmas at the State Capitol. Lt. Governor Janice McGeachin asked Gold Star Mothers to decorate the tree by her office. This came about before Memorial Day this year.
Gold Star Mothers traveled to Boise Tuesday and spent much of the day decorating the tree.
Newsradio 1310’s KLIX was doing a live remembrance radio broadcast to benefit the SGT Christopher J. Workman Scholarship Fund. The scholarship was established by SGT Workman’s family after his combat death.
McGeachin appeared on-air with Anna Workman, Chris’s mom, and Bill Colley, who was anchoring the show. Anna Workman is an accomplished painter. The Lt. Governor had seen several paintings of SGT Workman and asked if she could hang a print at her office.
The two women developed a friendship and the Lt. Governor then asked Anna if she could help with the tree.

You must keep in mind, holidays are especially difficult for any family that has lost a child. Gold Star Families suffer as much or more as anyone else.
On Christmas we remember God’s entry into our world but also knowing He would make the ultimate sacrifice for us. The children of Gold Star Families lived in imitation of the Lord. Remember them every day and please keep them in your prayers.
The tree can be seen by anyone visiting the Capitol over the next several weeks. If you’ve got family visiting from out-of-state, you might consider taking them on a tour of the building. And take a few minutes to remember at a Christmas Memorial.
