Darkness to Take Over the Golden State this Weekend

Despite many being in denial and hoping it won't happen, it is almost that time of year again. It is nearly time to mess up your schedules, throw off your sleeping, and change your clocks. It is happening later this year and has been awhile since the time has been changed, but after seven months, it is that time again. After this weekend, the whole state of California will be covered in darkness, and it will bring depression with it and will make the state a colder place to be for awhile.

Daylight Saving Time in California

Daylight saving time will be taking place this weekend. This time the clocks will fall back an hour, giving everyone extra time to enjoy the weekend. As always, the time change will happen on Sunday at 2 AM. Make sure to change your clocks, or you may arrive earlier than you want to appointments, run errands, or work. While the fall time change is the lesser of two evils, the change still takes a toll and has side effects that few talk about and realize. 

Darkness Taking Over California

When the time change occurs in the fall, it forces many residents in California to say goodbye to seeing daylight. Depending on your schedule, there is a high chance that it will be dark when you head to work, and dark or getting dark when driving home. The lack of sunlight can lead to depression, be bad for health, and have dire consequences. Because of the shorter days, some will only see daylight on weekends. The good news is that standard time is shorter than daylight saving time, but it will still bother residents in California over the next few months.

Remember to set your clocks back this Sunday, November 3, and prepare to deal with short days ahead. Look for the positives instead of the negative side of shorter days. It makes for more time to look at Christmas lights, perfect for a night date, and if you drive out of town can do star gazing. Use the extra darkness to your advantage, and in no time it'll be time to change the clock back.
