When it comes to everyday living, there are certain items that everyone needs. It is well known that most people have to have bread, milk, eggs, and certain items around the house, and the thought of running out of any of them will add an emergency trip to the store on that day's schedule. While it is never ideal to run out of certain things, especially the essentials, in Idaho there are certain items you never want to find yourself low on or out of. Here are the items to always have stocked up if living in the Gem State.

Most of Idaho is pro-gun and if you aren't you might be in the wrong state. With so many owning guns, they don't own them for looks, but to use them for hunting, protection, and sometimes for fun at the shooting range. One of the most essential items to living in Idaho is having ammo for your gun. The worst scenario is needing to fire for protection, to find out you have no ammo, or to leave for a hunting trip and find out you forgot it at home. Make sure to stay stocked and have some nearby at all times, just in case.

Similar to guns, many enjoy fishing in Idaho, but if you don't have bait or hooks, it could make fishing a little tougher. Yes, there are alternative ways to catch fish, but typically having hooks and bait is the way to go. Make sure to check your tackle box before planning any fishing trips, because it would be a bummer to get to your spot, and find out you didn't have what you needed or didn't have enough.

This item is more of a universal one that you never want to run out of. Running out of toilet paper for many is their worst nightmare. Nothing is more traumatic than sitting on the throne, having done your business, and finding out there is no toilet paper to help you finish the deed. With how rough winter can be at times, there are days nobody wants to make a run to the store and risk their lives on icy roads, only to get toilet paper. Make sure to stay stocked up, especially during the long winter.

There aren't many vegetarians in Idaho. Most like to hunt and eat the meat that they get. Those who don't hunt, likely prefer to still have fresh meat, especially with so many farms around. Running out of meat means settling for a salad, noodles, or something less filling. It seems unlikely that anyone in Idaho would allow their freezer to be empty of meat, but if you find yourself in this situation, get to a store immediately, or go hunting and get some fresh meat soon.

Many homes in Idaho do not have central heat and rely on wood-burning stoves to keep them warm during the winter. The winters are long and frigid, and running out of firewood not only will make you uncomfortable but depending on the winter, could cause you to get ill or in the worst scenario cause death. Make sure to load up on firewood before winter, and order more than you think you will need. It is better to have too much than to run out and be cold during the winter.

Gas is something you never want to run out of anywhere, but especially in Idaho, where there can often be long stretches of road without any gas stations. Running out of gas in Idaho could mean needing to be towed or to walk many miles to find the nearest station. Make sure to stay at least at half a tank, especially when traveling a long distance across the state.

It may sound silly not to want to run out of a condiment, but in Idaho, fry sauce must be in the house at all times. Even if you run out of fry sauce in the bottle, it is always good to keep extra packs from places you have gone out to eat, to get you through emergency times, until you can get to the store. In Idaho, if you plan on having fries, you better have fry sauce available, and don't be caught without it. Make sure to stay stocked up at all times.

While nobody wants to run out of eggs, milk, and other essential items, in Idaho the items above might be just as important, if not more to keep stocked in the home. Make sure to check these items frequently, so you don't find yourself having to run to the store and restock. The worst-case scenario would be if the store is out as well, then what would you do? It is especially important in the winter to be stocked as much as possible on most of these, as you never know when you could get snowed in.
