Halloween Fatigue is a Real Thing in the Gem State
October is filled with plenty of Halloween activities. There are trunk-or-treats, haunted houses, mazes, parties, and much more. It used to be that Halloween was only one day a year, but nowadays it lasts nearly an entire month. With so much going on throughout October, it is easy to get tired of the spooky holiday, so that by the time it rolls around, you are already worn out and ready to move on to the next holiday or to not participate in the night of. Halloween fatigue is real, and it is ruining the holiday for many in Idaho, and could do so again this year.
Halloween Fatigue in Idaho
Trunk-or-treats have ruined trick-or-treating on Halloween. There are many of them spread throughout the month, no matter what part of Idaho you live in. Some try to attend as many as they can, and it can take a toll. Weekend after weekend and trunk-or-treat after trunk-or-treat can be a lot. Kids are wearing costumes for hours, collecting pounds of candy, and getting to practice for the big night. After so many, by the time Halloween rolls around, kids are tired of putting on and wearing their costumes, are already diabetic from so much sugar, and are tired of walking around and saying 'Trick-or-treat'. Last year, some kids didn't want to go out on Halloween, and others wore out after less than an hour. The fatigue of the Halloween season can take a toll, especially on kids.
Trunk-or-Treats in Idaho
Trunk-or-treats used to be something that churches, companies, and perhaps neighborhoods held, but now everyone seems to have one, and there are many. Throughout the Magic Valley alone, it is possible to attend double-digit trunk-or-treats in a weekend. The amount of candy collected, especially if you have multiple kids, can be significant. It can be so much that you will find yourself giving candy away or putting it in a bowl on Halloween for other trick-or-treaters. The nice thing about trunk-or-treats is that it gives children an option if the weather is bad on Halloween, but it can also ruin the holiday and take a toll. When many of us were kids, we would go to as many houses as possible, stay out for hours, and know we only had one night to enjoy Halloween, unlike the children today who get weeks to do so.

Attend the trunk-or-treats happening around the Gem State, but make sure not to overdo it and get Halloween fatigue this year. Pick and choose the ones that make sense to go to, and skip out on others to enjoy the holiday and make sure your kids don't get worn out this Halloween season.
