6 Idaho New Year Resolutions You Must Make in 2025
A new year has begun, and many make New Year resolutions to start the year every year. They make goals to lose weight, or to better their life in some form. Some are against resolutions and take life one day at a time. There are some resolutions that everyone in Idaho needs to make in 2025, to truly enjoy life to the fullest in the Gem State, as well as to better their lives. Here are resolutions that all residents in Idaho should make for 2025, to enjoy the year and to make the most of the opportunities it presents.
BASE Jump Off the Perrine Bridge
BASE jumping is something that many enjoy watching and contemplate doing, but the fear often takes over and forces those same individuals to continue to avoid taking the plunge. The Perrine Bridge is one of the most popular places in the entire country to BASE jump, offering Idahoans a unique chance to do so in their backyard. If you have been avoiding this thrill for years, let 2025 be the year that you finally find your courage. Strap on a parachute, take the plunge this year, and check BASE jumping off the Perrine Bridge off your bucket list.
Kayak the Snake River
The Snake River is one of the most beautiful rivers in the country. With towering canyon walls and a winding river that offers incredible views, everyone should explore the water at some point. The current can be intimidating and the unknown of what is under you can cause some to avoid getting on the river, but make 2025 the year the one that you jump into a kayak and finally paddle your way up and down the river to experience all that the Snake River has to offer.
Catch a Sturgeon in Idaho
Idaho is home to some of the best fishing there is, and while setting a goal to catch a big fish is nice, there is a certain fish you can catch in Idaho that you can't catch everywhere. Make it a goal to catch a sturgeon in 2025. While you can't keep the fish and take it home, catching one is a memory that will last a lifetime and is something all fishermen should experience at some point in their lives.
Learn to Ski or Snowboard
Winter is the longest season in Idaho, and there are plenty of winter activities to enjoy to pass the time. One of the best things to do is to hit the slopes and enjoy skiing or snowboarding. With such long winters, it would be safe to assume that many Idahoans hit the slopes every weekend, but many have lived in the Gem State their whole life and have never stepped foot on a set of skis or a snowboard. Stop missing out, and take some lessons today. Get out and have fun going down the mountain and mastering skiing or snowboarding in 2025.
Hike a Mountain
When the long winter ends, there are many great summer activities to do as well, including plenty of amazing hiking trails throughout the state. It doesn't matter which part of Idaho you live in, there is likely good hiking nearby. While flat hiking is the easiest, some great trails are going up into the mountains. It takes more effort and can be a tad more dangerous, but hiking to the top of a mountain is a reward that nothing can compare to. After hitting the gym and getting into shape all winter, try your conditioning out and go for a hike and see some incredible views from atop a mountain this year.
Attend a Boise State Game
The Boise State Broncos have been one of the best football programs for the last twenty years. Many fans cheer on the team each Saturday in the fall but have never stepped foot in the stadium to witness the Broncos win a game on the blue turf. With the team having another successful year in 2024, tickets can be hard to come by, but make it a goal to save up and get tickets to a game this coming fall to enjoy witnessing a live game. There is nothing like the blue turf in sports and is something any Idaho sports fan should enjoy at least once.
While losing weight and getting in better shape is a nice goal to have, so is creating memories and enjoying all that Idaho has to offer. Instead of focusing on dieting and the gym, get out and experience things that other states can't offer and check off items on your bucket list in 2025. Let this year be the one that you truly experience the Gem State and all it has to offer.
