Fast Food No Longer Exists in Idaho
Fast food has long been a luxury that many take for granted. When you don't feel like cooking, are on the run, or get into town late, it is always nice to hit a fast food joint, get something quick, eat it in the car or back in the room or at home, and call it a day or night. There is a reason it is called fast food. You order, you wait a minute or two, and it is ready. Over time, this appears to have changed, though, and no longer is fast food fast food. Some may say it is dead. Fast food no longer exists in Idaho, and here is what changed.
Fast Food is Extinct in Idaho
Fast food is no longer fast. With apps, changes to how food is prepared, and fewer employees, the process takes much longer than it used to. It used to take less than five minutes to go to any fast food chain, order, get your food, and be on your way. Now, many of these places ask you to pull forward and wait for fresh fries, fresh hamburgers, or a burrito. While it is nice to see these places put more effort and deliver better quality food, it is still unhealthy and takes much longer than it used to. While fewer employees play a major role, so does the preparation. Food no longer sits under a heat lamp all day, which should make customers happy, but when it triples the wait time and is still bad for you, then it is better to use the heat lamp. These aren't the only problems, though, as another is the use of apps.
Fast Food Apps Suck
Nearly every fast food place has an app these days, and one would think that if ordering ahead, the food would be ready when you arrive. The point of ordering in advance is to save time and not have to sit in the drive-thru, yet more often than not, when you go to pick up your food, you are still asked to pull forward or told it isn't ready yet and have to wait. What was the purpose of the app and ordering ahead? The process isn't as good as it once was, and with AI and technology, fast food should be coming out faster than ever, yet it takes longer than when many of us were children and growing up. The process has become flawed.

Despite the waiting, most will continue to eat at fast food restaurants, this author included. The food is still good, and it still beats having to cook some nights. It is a shame that it has changed, and that fast food in Idaho is now only food, without the fast.
