Dating is hard, especially in today's society. It used to be that you would meet a nice person in school, at work, or perhaps at a bar on a Friday or Saturday night, but rarely do people meet that way anymore. Everyone is too busy to give others the time of day, and it seems that society has forgotten how to communicate in person. It can make dating tough. With so many apps and websites available these days, more and more people are turning towards them to meet that special someone, but everyone seems to have a horror story or two of someone they have met. It raises the question of how safe online and app dating is these days, and in Idaho is it the best option when it comes to dating?

Online dating can be scary. While you might have a connection with the person on the other end of your screen, it doesn't mean they are entirely who they say they are. They could look different, be a different age, or have a hidden agenda when it comes to finally meeting you if they ever do. Until you meet face to face, there is always that fear of who exactly are you talking to. Depending on where you live can play a factor, especially if you are keeping your options locally. Privacyjournal.net recently released a study about the safest and most dangerous states when it comes to online dating, and the results reveal that living in Idaho may help your case in finding that special someone.

According to the study, Vermont is the safest state to live in for online dating, with Maine being second, and New Hampshire rounding out the top three. The most dangerous state to live in for online dating is Nevada, with Alaska being the second worst, and Georgia rounding out the bottom three. Where does Idaho land? Idaho is one of the safest states for online dating, coming in at number five, and is the safest state west of the Mississippi River. Idaho has the fourth lowest venereal diseases and is in the bottom ten for identity theft and violent crimes. While these are all good statistics, there are a couple of things to be alarmed about. Idaho is in the top half of the country for romance scams and registered sex offenders. This puts potential daters at risk of meeting a criminal, or potentially falling for a scam and missing out on love as well.
