One of Idaho's most bizarre murder cases involves two men who worked together in the nineties and a killer who sent holiday cards to his victim's family long after the crime took place.

The murderer of a North Idaho resident and teacher still sits in a state prison after more than 30 years. The inmate is 76 years old and will not be leaving prison unless it's in a body bag.

Many residents of Sandpoint, Idaho, remember the names Paul Gruber and Darryl Kuehl. Kuehl worked as a handyman for Gruber in the early to mid-nineties and helped his boss by doing odd jobs around his Muskrat Lake property.

Shortly after Gruber went missing, his family became suspicious after they began receiving letters supposedly sent from the absent family member. Gruber's bills continued to get paid without anyone having contact with him, according to details shared by DeadHost.Exe / Meta.

Kuehl was ultimately found guilty of murdering Gruber, burying him beneath his basement floor, and impersonating him long after the crime was committed. He was also found guilty of several other crimes, including forgery and embezzlement. His current inmate number is 54471, according to the Idaho Department of Corrections.

Multiple documentaries have been produced that tell the story of the murder of Paul Gruber. Kuehl was given life in prison for his deeds.
