Daylight Saving Time Is Fast Approaching in ID, WA, and UT
It has been a few months since the last time change, and the days are beginning to get longer. While winter took a while, it is finally rolling in, but spring is still fast approaching, and that typically means that clocks will be changing once again. Most in Idaho, Washington, and Utah are tired of changing their clocks twice a year, as is the rest of the country as well, but in 2026, it will still be taking place. When is Daylight Saving Time, and when is it time to spring those clocks forward in Idaho, Washington, and Utah?
Daylight Saving Time in Idaho, Washington, and Utah in 2026
The time change last took place on November 2, 2025, and since then, many in Idaho, Washington, and Utah have been driving to and from work in the dark. The shorter days can take a toll as less daylight can lead to depression, drowsiness, and make people grumpy. The good news is that the days have begun to get longer, but not long enough for most. There is hope on the way, though, as Daylight Saving Time is fast approaching. It will be taking place on Sunday, March 8, this year, with the clocks officially springing forward one hour around 2 AM as they do each year. Residents of Idaho, Washington, and Utah will then get to enjoy longer days until November 1, when the clocks will once again fall back.
Time Change in Idaho, Washington, and Utah
Twice a year, when the time change takes place, many get upset about having to adjust their schedules. It may not seem like a big deal moving the time one hour forward or one hour back, but studies have shown that it can cause issues with sleep patterns, lead to depression, and affect a person's attitude. Especially for those with children, it typically takes a week or two to get them back on a normal sleeping schedule. The topic of doing away with Daylight Saving Time has been brought up for years, but for now, it continues to take place, unless you live in Arizona or Hawaii.

It may not be ideal, but make sure to change your clocks on the night of March 7 before you go to bed, so that you don't get up later than you anticipated. The bad news as well is this is the worst of the two changes, since you will lose an hour of sleep, and an hour of your precious weekend, and likely feel like time is going by too fast that day. The time to change the clock is almost here.
